My Top Albums of 2018

2018 has been one of the best years of new music in my life. With 7 of my top 10 bands releasing new albums, I had an ensuing lineup of upcoming projects to look forward to. It started in February with Awolnation's release of Here Come the Runts, and it didn't slow down until The 1975's album A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships on the last day of November. Overall, I probably listened to over 20 albums this year, which is a lot for a 365 day cycle, in my opinion. I tried to give every album I listened to two or three spins so I can properly dictate if the album was worth a crap or not. Some I hated on the first listen but grew accustomed to. Some I thought were classics and faded as I continued listening. But with that, I'm going to give you a list of my Top 5 Albums of 2018:

5.) YSIV, Logic

-Logic turned back to his critically acclaimed mixtapes with his continuation of the Young Sinatra series. After the release of his 2017 album Everybody, this album is a breath of fresh air. Logic needed a strong album, and he delivered two this year, as YSIV was released six months after Logic released his Bobby Tarantino II mixtape in March.

Top 3 Tracks: Everybody Dies, 100 Miles and Running, The Adventures of Stoney Bob

4.) A Dying Machine, Tremonti

-Mark Tremonti is a musical genius. Everything he has touched has turned to gold. Simply reiterating facts, in case you weren't aware. A Dying Machine is beautifully crafted as a concept album that has its own novel accompanying it, but the content of the album needs no additional support. It's marvelous.

Top 3 Tracks: Traipse, As the Silence Becomes Me, Throw Them to the Lions

3.) beerbongs & bentleys, Post Malone

-Post Malone solidified himself as one of today's biggest artists on his latest album. Not only does it have three songs that charted within the top 2 on the Billboard charts, but it touches on a wide range of genres that any music fan can find themselves enjoying. Post Malone is a man for the people. I've never wanted to be a celebrity's friend more than I want to be Post Malone's.

Top 3 Tracks: 92 Explorer, Spoil My Night, Rich & Sad

2.) Trench, twenty one pilots

-I did not expect to like Trench as much as I did. I love albums that carry a narrative with it, but I also love albums that have very good songs on them (my music tastes aren't that picky). This album is one with so many fun songs that I have no problem listening to it front-to-back on repeat.

Top 3 Tracks: Levitate, My Blood, Chlorine

1.) Ember, Breaking Benjamin

-What a hard-hitting, head-banging, nose-breaking, blood-inducing masterpiece that Breaking Benjamin came out with this year! This album is the perfect workout fuel or motivator to tackle your bully or punch your loud and obnoxious co-worker Brad in the face. Heavy, melodic riffs are what I'm a sucker for, and this album executes every element that I hunger for in a hard rock album.

Top 3 Tracks: Psycho, Feed the Wolf, Blood

So there are my top albums of 2018. If you have the time, give these albums a listen. Comment what your favorite albums of 2018 are. Actually, I have no clue if you can even comment on blogs, but I will soon find out lol. If you cannot comment, then you're forced to keep your opinions to yourself. But if you can, then do it. Anyway, stay tuned for a post listing my top songs of 2018.
